I had the pleasure of capturing family photos at Kohler Andrae State Park a few weeks ago for the Franz family, and I’m so thrilled to share them here today. As a Wisconsin family photographer, I’m always on the hunt for great photo locations, and Kohler-Andrea has become one of my favorites lately. I’ve actually known Denelle and Adam for quite some time now – I photographed their wedding seven years ago! So it was really fun to catch up with them and their growing family.

Denelle & Adam’s Story & Their Villa Terrace Wedding

I have to take a moment first to mention how beautiful Denelle & Adam’s wedding was. They first reached out to me back in 2016 to photograph their wedding and engagement photos, and they were married at the gorgeous Villa Terrace Decorative Arts Museum in Milwaukee where they live. It was perfect. With Lake Michigan as the backdrop, they cheers-ed a beer to their new life. It feels like yesterday.

So now, flash forward 7 years, and I got to meet up with them for family photos at Kohler-Andrae State Park. We had such a good time and soaked in the glow of golden hour. Kohler Andrae is one of my favorite spots lately. It has sweet views of the lake, mixed with sand dunes, old trees, and beach grass. Magic is always in the air there. It’s great for family photos because kids can be free to run wild and splash in the water. I love it. It’s the perfect spot to let natural moments unfold by just letting kids be themselves. 

I always say – you really must take family photos. I know it can feel stressful, and not everyone is comfortable having their picture taken, but I promise you won’t regret having these fleeting moments captured on film.
