I’m super excited to share Katy and Ryan’s sunrise engagement photos today! For their shoot we headed to one of my favorite local spots – Point Beach State Forest in Two Rivers, WI. I love shooting there. There are nice trails, the lighthouse, and the beach – all gorgeous photo backdrops and perfect for engagement sessions. 

Sunrise Engagement Photos at Point Beach State Forest

Point Beach is significant to Katy and Ryan too – they actually got married there a few months after our shoot. It was a super relaxed ceremony perfect for the two of them. All Katy wanted was her toes in the sand. 

We chose to do a sunrise shoot for their engagement pictures because the lighting at that hour cannot be beat. The sun’s rays give off an extra glowy vibe at that hour – especially as the sun rises over the lake. It’s also nice and quiet – no one else is really out at that time of day. The day of Katy and Ryan’s shoot we got spoiled with a truly special sunrise – it was unbelievable. We had the perfect morning.

My approach for engagement photo sessions is to just hang out and have a good time. It won’t be posed or stuffy, and you don’t have to get dressed up in a fancy outfit. I always encourage my couples to wear whatever makes you comfortable and feel your best. We can go to your favorite nature location like Katy + Ryan, or we can even just hang out at your home – again, wherever you are most comfortable and relaxed and able to have fun. To me, this is the best way to capture your true love on camera.
