I’m still completely blown away by Dragana and Michael’s wedding at the Grain Exchange, Milwaukee. It was the perfect city wedding – elegant and beautiful yet incredibly fun. I loved photographing it. If you’re planning a Milwaukee wedding, you’ll love it too!

An October Wedding at The Grain Exchange, Milwaukee
I first met up with Dragana and the ladies while they were getting. She was originally born in Serbia, and her family came to the US when she was a little girl. So their wedding was a blend of both cultures.
Once everyone was ready, we headed to the church for their ceremony, where I met up with Michael and his groomsmen for some photos of the guys before the ceremony began. They chose to be married at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Cathedral, and it was absolutely stunning.
I’m not a church girl personally, but this one was so special. Besides being breathtaking inside, the ceremony itself was magical, too. Following tradition, Dragana and Michael wore crowns and held candles. Everything was golden and glowing. (And the whole ceremony was in Serbian–I didn’t understand a word, but I could feel the richness and depth of the tradition.)
When they exited the church after the ceremony, dancing began on the church steps. It was beautiful!
From there, we hopped around Milwaukee with the wedding party before the reception. We made a stop at The Outsider, a rooftop bar downtown, for a round of drinks. Then we hit Lake Park for some portrait photos. The weather and vibes that afternoon were perfect.
After jaunting around the city for a bit, we headed back to the venue just in time for cocktail hour to begin.

The Grain Exchange is a historic Milwaukee venue. It’s on the National Register of Historic Places and was originally built for trade expos. It’s elegant, grand, and just stunning. The architectural elements throughout the space are so beautiful and make for amazing photo backdrops.
The grand ballroom where Dragana and Michael’s reception took place was filled with gorgeous light and smelled sweet from the cake. And the CAKE! Wow. So fancy.
This was an incredible wedding all around!
