Eden and Jonah’s backyard wedding reception in Manitowoc, WI was an absolute dream to photograph. I really think that they were the two happiest people in the world on their wedding day. They are so genuinely in love with one another, and that was so evident on their day.

A Backyard Wedding Reception

The wedding was held at Eden’s parents’ home in Manitowoc. They have a gorgeous property with lots of old trees and a river view – stunning. I was really excited to roam around and check everything out. 

The entire property was touched up in preparation for the day – they had buckets of farmers market flowers everywhere and family members were bustling around getting things ready right up until guests arrived. Jonah’s mom made a beautiful hanging flower wreath for them to dance under, and Jonah and his dad hung it the day before. So much care went into all of the preparations for their backyard wedding.   

Eden comes from a family of all girls – 4 in total. Their parents are really loving and they are all super family-oriented. You could really feel this love as Eden was getting ready in their home. She and Jonah both exuded so much joy and emotion all throughout the day. It was so sweet to see how happy they were to be getting married. They were side by side all night. 

I loved how well they paired the formality of a wedding and their elegant decor with such a casual party vibe for their reception. They had smash burgers cookout-style for dinner, and even turned a little cabin on the property into a whiskey and cigar spot with a firepit for guests to hang out at. People ran to it after dinner. 

It was so clear how much thought they put into all of the details for their day to create a really FUN party for their guests. When I left it was dark outside, the dance floor was packed, the bar was full, and stacks of pizza had just arrived. I have a feeling the rest of the evening was a great time.
