A Laid-Back Cabin Wedding in Northern Wisconsin

posted in:

Celia and Quinn’s cabin wedding in Athelstane, Wisconsin, was hands-down my kind of wedding. Relaxed, in nature, and filled with so much love.

Celia is a natural artist who believes beauty is everywhere, and Quinn is her perfect complement. It was a total honor to be there with them and to capture their beautifully laid-back wedding day.

A Cabin Wedding in Wisconsin

I drove to Northern Wisconsin into a thick forest, and I followed a dirt road for miles to get to this cabin in the woods. It was a late September day, and though it was early fall, it was still 85 degrees out.

The setting was perfect: a quiet spot in nature, as the leaves were just starting to turn.

When I arrived, Celia, Quinn, and some of their friends and family were getting ready and putting the finishing touches on the spaces. They thrifted most of their decorations at Goodwill or rummage sales, and they handmade all of their signage. Including a unique and beautiful butterfly light installation!

These personal touches added to the easy-going and charming vibes of the day. I loved it.

The Ceremony

The ceremony was beautiful, and an old friend of Celia and Quinn’s officiated. He literally flew around the world to be there for them.

They set up right near the water, surrounded by the most serene scenery. As guests arrived, they were greeted with some acoustic live music.

Celia looked absolutely beautiful as she walked down the aisle in her dress. Which, I must point out, she made herself!! I’ve photographed over 400 weddings and haven’t once seen this before. It was incredible.

The Party

Celia and Quinn reserved an original Goodman Park cabin for their reception. The cabin was built in the 1800s and was situated right next to the Falls. You could hear the water trickling the entire day.

For dinner, everyone dined on candlelit picnic tables decorated with beautiful greenery and flowers. It was so cozy. There was great food, heartfelt toasts, and a lot of laughs.

As the afternoon turned to evening, everyone relaxed and partied in and around the cabin. It was truly the perfect day.
